Dual Language
Studies show that studying a different language every day at an early age shows significant academic improvement. At VVA, students receive Spanish every single day, alongside their other studies!
At VVA, we focus on writing, listening, speaking, and reading in our dual-language program, with daily Spanish instruction to enhance students’ multilingual skills and prepare them for a global world. The current curriculum we are using is the Risas y Sonrisas program, which meets the ACTFL standards for language learning, focusing on Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.
The program creates a fun, engaging environment where students practice real-world conversations, exchange information, express emotions, and share opinions. This interactive approach not only develops their language skills but also helps them connect with the material in a meaningful way. Additionally, students compare Hispanic cultures with their own, deepening their understanding of both language and culture. By exploring these cultural comparisons, students gain a broader perspective, allowing them to recognize distinctive viewpoints only available through the Spanish language and its cultural context.
Through this approach, students are empowered to build strong language skills that they can apply both in and outside of the classroom, preparing them for success in an interconnected, multilingual world.
